The Fine Print That Changes the Math
Earns 5% cash back in two categories you pick each quarter (combined $2,000/quarter cap), 2% in one everyday category (Gas/EV charging, Grocery, or Restaurants), and 1% on everything else. Categories must be activated each quarter or earnings drop to 1%. No annual fee, but 3% foreign transaction fee. Sign-up bonus: $250 ($25,000 points) after $1,000 spend in 90 days. Cash+ also earns 5% on prepaid air, hotel, and car reservations booked through the U.S. Bank Travel Center; CardSavvy doesn't model travel-portal earn rates yet, so direct travel spend is shown at 1%. The 5% selectable categories include several buckets (Department Stores, Movie Theaters, Electronics, Fast Food, Furniture, Gyms, Ground Transportation, Sporting Goods, Select Clothing) that don't map to CardSavvy's spend categories yet. Grocery 2% excludes Target/Walmart/wholesale clubs.
- Top rate capped at $2,000 per quarter
- 3% foreign transaction fee
